Autodesk will be announcing official details on Microsoft Windows Vista support for AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT in the next 2-4 weeks so please check www.autodesk.com/autocad for more information. In the meantime, please note that no official statement has been released yet.
Personally I have been running Windows Vista on many of my own machines new and old as well as my TabletPC and love it and knock on wood not a single crash in about a year of beta testing it. A very nice OS. Now I have to get back to playing the new free Windows Ultimate Extras released yesterday like the Texas Hold ‘Em card game.
Hi,
I am an architect.
I am looking to buy a laptop / desktop which is Autocad compatible. It is quite confusing specially to be sure that the hardware is good for such application.
Are there outfits selling PC’s meeting Autocad requirement.

I just upgraded my computer to windows vista home. I wanted to run my Autocad LT98, after loading the program I recieved BAD_MEM_POINTER error. Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue? I really cannot afford to upgrade my autocad program right now. I would just like to run LT98.
Worried,

Steve,
Unfortunately AutoCAD LT98 was a long time before Windows Vista was developed or released. You could try running in the Vista W2K compatibility mode but not sure that would even work as I have not run LT98 for 10 years.
You might try looking at my unsupported AutoCAD R14 on Windows Vista solution as that might be the perfect solution for the LT version of R14 ala LT98. Not everything will work perfectly but it might run. http://autodesk.blogs.com/between_the_lines/2008/07/autocad-r14-and.html
Remember any time you make a big OS change that it will affect any applications you run and they need to be considered when upgrading.
Let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
Shaan
