The Autodesk Users Group International AUGI is reporting they have exceeded 100,000 members. It has doubled in just the last 3 years and continues to increase. It is really no surprise with AUGI membership being free and all of the resources such as free training classes with the ATP, product wish lists, Autodesk University handouts, AUGIWorld magazine, discounts to events, AU early registration, product communities, and the popular member forums. AUGI is made up of and run by your fellow peers and product users.
As I have wondered aloud in the past…
What is the definition of a “member”?
Maybe there should be a definition for an “active member”?
As of Jan 2007, there were about 9150 forum members. Take away the 3000 or so that only have a single forum post, and that leaves about 6150 active forum members. Add in a thousand or two that have taken ATP classes, been to CAD camp or CAD matinee, and you probably have less than 10,000 “active” members.
Not bad, but not 100,000.

You are always too skeptical. 😉
I would not judge a membership count by a forum participant count as that would not be reasonable. Not everyone uses forums or all visible resources to you. A member is someone that has taken the time to sign up and surely they signed up for something be it the wish list, AU class handouts, or something. I have no doubt they are above 100,000 given their past membership signup lists and rates.
