On the 21st of August 2008 this blog will turn 5 years old which in dog years is 35 years old or in the context of an average blog life is an eternity. I will be posting some stats of the traffic over the years of blogging which began as an unofficial fun geek’ish experiment to find a new channel to deliver tips and tricks and announcements as well as reduce the number of times I was responding with the same answer in the discussion groups. It has grown and spread to other CAD users and vendors.
From the “bloggergate” to “astroturf” claims this blog has survived the gauntlet and in its own small part changed many of the ways and speed in which CAD news was delivered from monthly or Tuesday morning newsletters to the now instantaneous RSS feeds of breaking news, or knowledge.
The first blog post was 21 August 2003 Getting the feel for this Blog
What I would like to know in the comment to this post is: what do you like and I should keep doing, you do not like and I should stop, or would like to see?
Cheers,
Shaan

Wow, doesn’t time fly!
I didn’t realise you’d been going that long before I jumped into the blogosphere, late March 2004;

5 years is a very long time blogging consistently when you look at the blogger world statistics. I think most everyone on the planet had a blog for at least 4 days at some point. 😉
By the way, your comment was comment number 996.
Shaan
Hi Shaan,
Normaly I don’t respond much to postings. This case however is exceptional.
First my congrats for your 5 year milestone. I have learned a lot from your blog, following all kinds of tips and tricks and links to other experts.
Second, don’t change a thing! This is you, this is your blog! We certainly don’t need another well shaped, strictley formatted company blog/forum. There’s enough of that, ie. myfeedback.autodesk.com. This is your personal, work related, blog. That’s why I love it. Please continue for another five years or more!
Best,
Harold
Shaan – Congrats on such a monumental milestone. Your blog is one I read well before entering the blogosphere myself in January 2006.
As a blogger – I love incoming links. As an AutoCAD user I love tips & tricks. As a geek on a constant quest for knowledge, I love the posts about your travels.
Keep up the good work!

Shaan, Has it really been 5 years? I’ve been reading from day 1 and I still can’t believe 5 years have gone by! Congrats and keep up the good blogging.
