I am not one of those who believe the world is going to end in December 21, 2012. Some base their predictions of a doomsday event on the ancient Aztec and Mayan calendar sun stone such as the new movie 2010, and some on the web such as http://www.viewzone.com/endtime.html & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_phenomenon. Personally I think it will be another non-event like the Y2k worries and I am comforted to know NASA feels the same about the topic.
The only event I can predict currently will be that Autodesk University 2009 will begin next week in Las Vegas.
Recently I had to get some stress and energy out on a Saturday night and decided to create a DWG of the calendar using Autodesk AutoCAD 2010. Originally I was using it as a good way to show how performance of AutoCAD 2010 hatching was improved. I stated with some rough geometry available on the web and then I developed the AutoCAD 2010 DWG file.

That file is corrupt. can’t open in illustrator, carrara or rhinoceros. put it in a zip. the file downloads to 2.09 MB not 2.149 MB

the file is a valid AutoCAD DWG file, I am pretty sure Illustrator is unable to read 2010 version files. I will post an older version and DXF. For those unable to read the current DWG version. You also download the free DWG TrueView from http://www.autodesk.com/dwgtrueview and vied and convert authentic and valid AutoCAD DWG files.

Everything is in color “PANTONE 7413 C” is that an error or not? (just the center part Face part are in color “237,212,115”)
The file has no extension. I added .dwg to the name and it opens for me in 2010.
Perhaps it is your browser cutting the URL file extention for security or fooled by the “.” before the extension.

Yes there are only two color hatches on this version. I did not upload my complex wood looking version. I figured most everyone will want to do their own treatment with colors. Would love to see what people come up with.

I’m using the latest Firefox, and it sees the file as an octet stream, saving it as “Aztec”. But I added the .dwg extension and it loaded fine.

It’s the Mayan calendar and no, it does not predict the end of the world. The Mayans predicted Cycles of time on Earth and this “ending” indicates one Cycle will end and another begin. It in no way says that the new Cycle means world destruction. A little research on the subject can help you rise above the ‘world is gonna end!’ There will be great changes to the world as we know it today it will not end it will greatly change.
