The AutoCAD 2011 online Help has been improved for better search results and much faster performance. We pushed the improved online Help on Friday May 7th. Please give it a try and let us know what you think. Updates are currently for AutoCAD 2011 and AutoCAD LT 2011 English with non-English and other AutoCAD based products expected to be updated in the future.
The online Help is also much better formatted for mobile devices such as on the iPhone as I mentioned in last weeks blog post AutoCAD 2011 and Other Autodesk Product Help – On the Go.
TIP:
In AutoCAD 2011 you can choose on the System tab of Options to set your online Help to online or offline mode.

Is it possible to update the off-line version of help, or will we wait until a service pack is released?
FYI, to take an iPhone screen shot hold down the Home button & hit the power button at the same time…
In our office, we don’t have ready access to the internet on our computers. This whole online thing for the training videos and the help menu is frustrating for us. We also don’t have sound cards so unless there is something we can read, we don’t get the info.

Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.”
Pressing continue doesn’t evem work that I have to do end task on Task Manager and keeps crashing after doing some simple operations. I even did an Autocad repair. I never had this problem before. Any help?
We are continuing to look at ways to improve the experience for both online and offline Help. When we have additional changes available, we will make sure to communicate those out for everyone to enjoy.
For those that do not have an available Internet connection always available, would you download videos and additional content for use in the office?

OK, I’ve been trying to use the online 2011 Help a little. A couple of observations that I will mention here and on Steve Johnson’s blog. Perhaps you could forward them on to the people responsible?
1- In previous versions of the help documentation, there were three arrow page navigation buttons: ‘back’ ‘up’ and ‘forward’. IMO, this was intuitive and allowed me to scan through a subject in a more or less LINEAR manner (without skipping anything important) like perusing a manual. But these simple navigation buttons are missing. Why?
In the new system, although there is a ‘navigation topic box’ at upper left of the webpage, the very limited ‘tree outline’ format it displays is basically just irritating to me.
For one thing, the indentation of the subtopics is not pronounced enough (compare with the indentation in the index), so it is difficult to tell what is a main topic and what is a subtopic.
Another consequence is that since the topic/subtopic format changes relative to what page is being displayed, the positions of the topics headings on the page also change, so I cannot keep my cursor in the same basic place to click to move forward to the next page (like one could do with ‘back’ ‘up’ ‘forward’ buttons); instead I must figure out each time what topic I’ve seen or am looking at, and where I need to go next. This just slows me down. This seems to be a poor webpage design issue to me.
2- Another issue relates to the beautiful ActiveX Object Model found here:
AutoLISP Developer’s Guide > Using the Visual LISP Environment > Working with ActiveX > Understanding the AutoCAD Object Model.
In previous versions of Help, you could actually click on each type of object shown IN the diagram, such as LightweightPolyline, and you would be taken to a page detailing that object’s properties, methods, etc. I cannot tell you how so VERY useful this flowchart was for me to look up information – but now that linkage to the objects seems to be lost. Why? Who broke it?
I would not be surprised to find other deficiencies in this new online format, but these are two major ones I see right away that are really maddening.
Anything you can do to improve these problems would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your consideration.

I am assuming you mean change DWG files from AutoCAD 2011 to AutoCAD 2007. If this is what you need then use the free Autodesk DWG TrueView from
http://www.autodesk.com/dwgtrueview
With DWG TrueView you can batch convert DWG files between versions for free using the same Autodesk libraries as AutoCAD uses.
