Project Neon is now available via Autodesk Labs as a free technology preview. With Project Neon you can render multiple DWG files simultaneously. http://bit.ly/aYXFgL
It is perfect for designers, architects, engineers who have AutoCAD 2010/2011 DWG files in 3D set with materials and lighting requiring rendering. Rendering is one of the most time and system intensive tasks and by using the cloud your machine is freed of that workload and the high-quality, photo-realistic renderings are delivered directly to your own secure online storage. The actual renderings are completed on Autodesk’s own data center and render farm.

This is a really cool prospect. I do wonder how much companies are going to want to rely on out-of-house services like this, though. Any idea of how much this is going to cost once the free preview expires?
Also, I gotta say that there are few things more annoying than clicking on a thumbnail of what should be a large beautiful image only to have that exact same thumbnail open on a new page. Either don’t make the thing a link or have it link to something that is actually useful for the reader.
I cannot provide any possible dates or pricing. The direction this technology goes is all based on the feedback received.
As for the images with link, that was my mistake and I will correct it. Thank you for letting me know.
Best Regards,
Shaan
Thanks for your article on AutoCAD DWG Rendering Farm in the Cloud with Project Neon. A free technology preview is always an exciting adventure. I work for McGraw Hill Construction and you can check out their Sweets Network Directory where you can actually download an autocad drawing. auto cad drawing
