  1. I’m using that usa.* URL and still getting the “soon” message. Could be a region thing, but it’s not saying so. The upshot is that some people will read your “You can now download” message, click the link and find that’s not the case. Some may even not notice the message, download 2011 and get annoyed.
I’m not too bothered (as long as it doesn’t go on for weeks like it did in Asia Pacific last year), but I just thought you ought to know.

  2. Works for me!
It’s like Christmas! Even Civil 3D 2012 is up. Looks like I am not gonna get any work done today.

  3. Let me qualify that “Fixed now!”. What’s fixed is that the page says it’s available and I’m permitted to fill in all my details. I click the download button and it gets a 355 KB installer.exe file. Running that attempts to run some Akamai thing (uh oh), which then fails (can’t say I’m surprised). I guess providing a straightforward link to the AutoCAD installer would have been making things too easy.
Meanwhile, over in Subscription land, 2012 is not yet available for paying customers to download.

  4. Choose the option to not use the download mgr. You may experience issues in connection with the early demand and connection quality between Australia and the US. The products are just now becoming available and subscription customers should receive notice soon along with serial numbers etc.

  5. What option not to use the download manager? I just went through it again and couldn’t see one anywhere. Connection quality is just fine for everything else.

  6. The option is on most trial download pages, but since I was replying to your comments from my iPhone I was unable to make sure on this page. It appears the option is not on this trial currently.
The only choice is to use the Akamai downloader which is from the download hosting company, or exercise some patience.
I do apologize for the problems.

  7. Shaan, I know you’re not responsible for these problems, so I’ll rant elsewhere. Thank you for your attempts to help and the apology.
I would normally be more patient, but this year I have something specific I need to test ASAP on the shipping version.

  8. A discussion on this subject over at my blog has revealed that there is a way to get a direct link: use Opera. Also, if you put that link into a proper download manager, you can get excellent speeds out of it. I just downloaded 1.1 Gb of AutoCAD 2012 32-bit in 14 minutes on a middling-performance ADSL line (~6 Mbps). Awesome!
