AutoCAD WS mobile for Android is Available

AutoCAD WS mobileThe new version of AutoCAD WS mobile for the Google Android platform devices such as the Android phones and Tablets is now available in the Google App Marketplace. It looks really nice on the Tablet devices where you have more screen real estate. There are some Android unique features in this Android version such as speech recognition where users can insert comments and text notations in the drawing by speech rather than typing.

There is also the version of AutoCAD WS mobile for Apple iOS devices such as the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad in the Apple App store.

And of course the web based version of AutoCAD WS which has more features than the mobile versions of AutoCAD WS.

One thing they all have in common besides DWG viewing, editing, and markup is that they are all FREE.

And when will us BlackBerry users be blessed with this app?

Joel,
Thank you for the feedback comment. I have previously passed on a request for Blackberry support. Having a Blackberry Curve myself I am not sure I would even be able to see a drawing on the small screen but perhaps their larger screen models like the storm would be usable. A Tablet device is actually the best platform for graphics like AutoCAD drawings.
Perhaps the new Blackberry Tablet which I have heard also runs Android can run the AutoCAD WS mobile Android version.

I agree Blackberry phones are too small but please give us this app for the Blackberry Playbook, it would be better to have it created as native app than to have it ported through the Android player which may or may not even materialize.

Please create this app for the Blackberry Playbook.

Model space objects do not display Moto Xoom (Honeycomb). Gives false error message stating 3d objects not supported. This dwg file had 2d objects only developed on ACad LT 2010. Thoughts?

DM Wood,
It is it really a false error, what it is finding is that you have some entities with a Z elevation different. If you had a series of lines and had some 10 feet elevation above it that would actually be considered 3D elements in the file as opposed to a all one plane flat 2D drawing.
Hope that clears it up.
Than you for reading the blog and posting the comment.

not good! cannot open from SD card. If I have tablet with no 3G connection and I`m at construction site? Simply CAD viewer would be much more effective.
Useless application.

mar-ron,
I am not sure I understand your comment. You can most definitely view files offline on both Apple and Android devices. Just upload your DWG to the AutoCAD WS website and sync offline or email yourself or dropbox files to get them on your device before you go offline.

I loaded it on mt HTC just fine. Now I’d like to add it to my Gtablet, but I dont have access to Anroid market on it, crippled by Viewsonic. Handago is the app market on it. Can you make it available as a downloadable APK?

Darrell,
Just send an email request to feedback@autocadws.com. They should help you get what you need to get AutoCAD WS on your Viewsonic Android device.

I should be getting an android tablet soon, and look forward to using this. However, I hope the mobile versiosn will not need to have web access to function. I will be taking it to job sites, where there is no wifi and I will not be getting a 3G tablet.

Structuresguy
You dont need 3G and you can use the free AutoCAD WS mobile in offline mode without a connection at the jobsite. Give offline synching a try.

Thanks for the info. Now if only the new Samsung 10″ tablet would get here already.

Can I view and markup DWF files with this? Am getting an Eee Pad soon and would lioke to be able to take DWF files on site without data connection.
Cheers
