Use Photofly to Capture Burning Man in 3D

The Burning Man event is held each year in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada the week prior to the US holiday Labor Day. The ~50,000 attendees cover the entire spectrum of humanity and cultures, but for the most part it is a very creative focused community of people.

There are no hotels as you are in the hot dry desert with about 49,999 other people.

The attendees cover the entire spectrum of humanity and cultures, but for the most part it is a very creative focused community of people. People really let their creative side go all out at Burning Man by showing a wide array of visual and performance art including some very unique designed structures, bikes, and mutant vehicles.

The event culminates in the burning of the large wooden Burning Man which is then followed by some cases of hangover, sunburn, and a long drive home to shower off the accumulated layers of dirt.

How about using your standard digital camera to capture some of the Burning Man event and sharing it with others in eye shattering 3D using the free Autodesk Labs Project Photofly?

  1. Ping,
It is so great to hear from you. I would have expected you to be at Burning Man this year. I am thinking of attending next year myself. Imagine all the models from Photofly meshing and healing to watertight models for 3D printing in Geomagic from Burning Man.
    Cheers,
    Shaan
