Autodesk University Media Reception / Blogger Social and Shutterbug

I am currently building two online surveys to start collecting the people interested in participating in these special limited events occurring at Autodesk University 2011.  I plan to post the surveys next week after and will of course announce them on this blog when they go live.

What you can count on so far…

The Media Reception / Blogger Social

This event organized by a small team including me will be held the evening of November 28th by invitation only since we have limited accommodations. Last year it was standing room only with almost every single Autodesk executive and product manager in attendance. It is not a event for marketing or sales but rather focusing on you and social networking in real life (IRL). Mingle and meet your press media, social media, and those rascally blogger peers in a casual setting. Meet that one Autodesk product manager or executive before AU 2011 starts. You can plan out your week having met many like minded people and instead of strangers have new friends.

The formal press member invitations will be handled by PR as I am only handling the blogging and social media invites.

The annual Shutterbug Event

This will be held on the Friday and Saturday following AU. The event will be for photographers to get outside a casino in the fresh air and sunshine to photograph the beautiful Southern Nevada landscapes and the unique Las Vegas strip. We will also hold some Project Photofly shooting workshops during the Shutterbug so you can learn how to turn your photos into 3D models for free. Imagine having that “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign in 3D or perhaps that odd statue, desert rock, or capture some of the weirdest people on the street as 3D head model.

Cheers,
Shaan

I’ll be there with bells on. Pants are optional, right?

It may be Vegas but we ask that everyone be fully clothed.

The Sign up survey is almost ready to set free to the interwebs!

Bill N says:

Too bad the shutterbug is after AU, I’m coming in early and heading out to the South Rim for Thanksgiving for some sunset shots and waking up to some sunrise shots!

Bill nothing says we cant have some shutterbugging before but most the days prior to AU are preparing for AU sessions, events, or finishing up travel and a holiday.
Dont forget the North Rim is a hidden gem, and preferred by me to the South Rim.

I did that last year, very cold and snowed just before we headed back to Vegas. The wife and I stayed at the El Tovar, old but very well worth it. We had dinner at the El Tovar restaurant and sat across the aisle from Mark Kelly and his “group” that had just climbed out of the canyon that day after spending Thanks Giving at the Phantom Ranch, and yes his wife Gabrielle Giffords was there too. Sat at the big fireplace and had a drink with them after.
