Autodesk Does Not Support SOPA

Autodesk applauds Congress for recognizing the threat that software piracy poses to our economy, but we cannot support SOPA as written.

Over the past month there have been several lists, web pages, and mentions in Twitter and other social media incorrectly stating that Autodesk supports the controversial SOPA initiative otherwise known as United States H.R. 3261.

The official Autodesk statement:

Autodesk applauds Congress for recognizing the threat that software piracy poses to our economy, but we cannot support SOPA as written.

  1. This was a simple statement from PR. Carl Bass also on Twitter clarified Autodesk does not support SOPA.
    Not everything needs to be or should be a full spun up release to the press.

  2. I have had a bit of a love/hate relationship with AD and its products for over twenty years. This bit of news goes in the + column.
    The much vaunted “Cloud” is still, in my opinion, a gateway to tyranny.

  3. This make my already great love for autocad even bigger. haha. SOPA is nothing more than the government trying to control the internet. It’s written to give them way more power than is necessary and is only going to lead to a big brother like experience. It’s already started when they cut off cloud users with its shut down of megaupload
