AutoCAD Quick Tip – Rotate Objects

ROTATEIn AutoCAD there are in most cases multiple methods to do something but this one is a super simple way to rotate an object. You could use the ROTATE command, select the object then in the properties palette change the rotation, or use the grips and right-click menu which is the fastest and no need to touch the keyboard at all.

Select the object
Select the Object
Right-click to bring up the right-click menu and select Rotate.
Right-click the object and get the right-click menu.
Now set your base point and rotation.
Now Rotate the object

Sean,
That sequence might sound simple and neat, but it loads up the mouse hand with activity which can be avoided.
If you type RO, then hit space, then pick items, base point, and finish command, you avoid the back and forth of the right click way.
Autodesk does not realize that these “never use the keyboard” techniques are horrible for real users.
The problem is many people do not know better, and Autodesk reinforces their bad habits. Key-ins are the way to go for production use.
