17!
Seventeen years ago I started this blog as a fun side project after a couple Autodesk employees Bill Johnson and Eric Wright approached me about this new thing called Blogs, and I have been throwing words and photos up here ever since. Next year the blog will be 18 years old, and I will have to consider if I am kicking it out of the house since it will be an adult if it were human.
Thank you to everyone that stumbles upon or reads the blog regularly. I'm truly grateful and always available for feedback, suggestions, ideas, collaborations, and guest authors regarding helpful tips and tricks for Autodesk technologies.

DWF files should not be used to transmit drawing info used to create new drawing info. They are great for maintaining ‘security’ and for plotting on paper.
The other way to transmit drawings is using the DXF facility. DXF files have ’16 bit'(?) precision.
How does this compare to native DWG precision?
Is not a lot of precision lost when transfering data from other CAD software using the dxf facility?
I have noticed the problem when I get drawings from other software. If I have ‘snap on’ and I am doing a detail in a 300 foot building, the 24″x 24″ base plate is not on the grid, or snap spacing. Details are done to a 1/16th inch and sometimes I have to overwrite the dimension to make the correct dimension.
Also, sometimes, the overall building dimension is not precise. (dimensions for buildings are shown to an even foot but the lack of dxf precision puts an extra 1/16th or 1/8th inch in the dimension. I want all of my dimensions to have 1/16th inch precision. Doiing otherwise would create a need for two dimstyles and, then, which dimstyle should I use, when? You can see the problem, I hope.
