Extending Dynamo with Sol Amour and Jacob Small

Extending Dynamo with Sol Amour and Jacob Small

Come join Jacob and Sol (aka the DynaDuo) as we learn all about how to Extend Dynamo. Maybe the out-of-the-box experience, while awesome, doesn’t quite have everything you need and you want a little more pep in your step. Enter Extensions! Similar to how Packages enable new nodal workflows, Extensions customize your Dynamo workspace and come in two primary flavors; out-of-the-box, which are shipped to every Dynamo install, and user chosen, shipped via the Package Manager.

We will dive into what an Extension is, what ones you can find out-of-the-box, and cover a couple of community created Extensions.

Hint: If you attended “Dynamo Graph Annotations” you would have already seen one of the most popular in action.

I’m afraid the Migration Tools links all seem to be broken??

Not sure of any reasons as the links are working for me from my home connection.
Cheers,
-Shaan

Hmm… that really is quite strange. I had a look on the FTP server too (ftp://adeskftp.autodesk.com/ProdSupp/downloads/ etc.) and whilst I can see a lot of files, I definitely can’t see any of the migration tools. The last file that I can see before the spot where “cust_migr.pdf” should be is CivilSeries2004SaveAsEnabler.exe.
A Windows Explorer search of the whole FTP site didn’t turn up any results for “cust_migr”, either.

Art,
I am not sure what could be going on as many have successfully downloaded as have I from my home machine. I will check with the web team and see if they are aware of any issues. Also there is a feedback on the website at the bottom of the autodesk.com web pages that submits the feedback to the team in charge.
I was able to download again just now by right-click on the link and save as option in IE.
Sincerely,
Shaan Hurley

Hi Shaan,
I am a big proponent of ScriptPro for various reasons. Unfortunately, it is not fully compatible with ADT 2005.
When running scripts that plot files, ADT 2005 cancels prematurely and you get a partial plot. One can reproduce this error with large files that take a few seconds to plot. Autodesk have said that the problem lies deep within the code and that it would require a complete overhaul, which they do not intend to do. Bummer. I have to start shopping around for another program.
The new publish command isn’t versatile enough. For instance I liked using ScriptPro to set imageframe to off before plotting. Or choose which files in a list to skip. None of these can be done in publish. Thanks
