Google announced today that they have added public sign up for the new social media as well as have seriously added things I have been begging for.
I have been holding Hangouts on Google+ as well as using other nice features of the new social network from Google in early testing. I have 150 invitations and am giving them away to the first 150 to grab them.

Today is the eighth birthday of this blog. It was eight years ago I started blogging as a means to spread information, tutorials, promote other resources, and share my warped sense of humor. Last year Bill Adams made a 7th birthday cake, this year I decided to make my computer and the blog into a cake and light a candle on it.
I have recently been personally experimenting with Google+ and the Hangout feature where up to 10 people can use their webcam and microphone to live chat. So far I have held several Hangouts all with great results and feedback. I am even perfecting a way to not only show my face but also switch to my video screen to show something if needed.
Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Pecos Conference 2011 in the forest at a campground near the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. There was over 350 archeologist at the event and several papers presented. I had a table to show Autodesk Labs Project Photofly which can take photos from a standard digital camera and produce a 3D model in textured mesh as well as .LAS point clouds.
Autodesk has added a social content widget to many autodesk.com pages where you can now read, like, and share content.
